Question: Do you have paper entry forms?

Answer: NO. We do not accept paper entries. All acts must be entered online via DanceComp Genie

Question: What date do I use to establish a performers age?

Answer: Age as of January 1.

Question: Should I round up or down when averaging ages for duets, trios and groups?KR6

Answer: Simply drop the decimal point and any numbers that follow when averaging (thereby rounding down). For example: The average age of your group comes out to be 12.8. Drop the decimal point (.8) and your group falls in the 11-12 age division. These calculations will be made for you automatically when you enter online.

Question: What is the competition entry deadline?

Answer: Entries must be processed online with payment in full no later than 21 days prior to the first day of competition, unless you’re expecting a rebate (see below). However, entries are accepted on a “first come, first paid” basis and may be limited due to available performance time. Many of our shows close out PRIOR TO THE PUBLISHED DEADLINES. You are encouraged to enter (and pay) as early as possible. Note also that entries are not considered “received” until paid in full and thus, unpaid entries may be bumped by paid entries entered at a later date.

DD1Question: What is the REBATE entry deadline?

Answer: Rebate entries must be entered online and paid 45 days prior to the first day of competition. Additional qualifications are required (click here for more on rebate program).

Question: I need to send my rebate payment to you overnight. What is your physical office address?

Answer: 137 Pirner Ste. 5 , Haysville, KS 67060

Question: Do you accept credit card payments?

Answer: YES, unless you’re expecting a rebate (see above) . Credit/debit card payment is required to process entries, unless they are rebate acts which must be paid via money order or cashiers check.Comp2

Question: Will I be able to take photos or video of my child’s performance?

Answer: NO. Video recording and photography of any kind is strictly prohibited, except during awards presentations. This rule has been established at the request of our studio directors and teachers to protect their rights in choreography, costuming, etc. We do however contract with Alive Photo and Video who will be available to professionally meet your photo and video needs if you choose.

Question: Do you charge an automatic “media fee” for each dancer or act?

Answer: NO. Although each act will be photographed and video recorded, the purchase of photos or videos is  strictly at your option. We do however encourage you to take some time to preview the photos and videos of your acts. Taking a look is 100 percent free and you’re under absolutely no obligation to purchase. Besides, it’s fun, and can be educational, which is what the weekend is all about anyway. There are also many options from which to choose that ranges from a single photo print to every image and video from your studio. Click here for a special pre-show offer from Alive Photo and Video.

Question: Can I upload my performance music?

Answer: YES, performance music must be uploaded prior to the competition. Look for the “Upload Music” button on your DanceComp Genie dashboard.

Question: Can I enter “Special Awards” categories (Photogenic, TOP Entertainer) at the door?

Answer: NO. We do not accept these entries at the door. All specials need to be pre-registered  and paid during online entry.

HS7Question: Can I jump off the front of the stage during my performance, or enter/exit the stage from under the backdrop, or from the seating area?

Answer: NO. Entry and exit from the stage is strictly allowed via the stage wings. This rule has been put into effect for the safety of the performers, judges, staff and audience members.

Question: How do I submit my photo(s) for the photogenic contest?Comp22SoloGirl2_700x818

Answer: Photos must be uploaded as part of the online entry process. Look for the upload photo button when entering each photogenic entry on DanceComp Genie. If you have any trouble uploading your photos try reducing the file sizes first which is usually as simple as making the photos a little smaller and/or reducing the DPI (dots per inch). Email or call us for assistance if necessary and we’ll be happy to help.

Question: Is there a time limit for setting up props?

Answer: YES. Production props must be in place within 2 minutes of the time the prior act has cleared the stage. Props for all other solo, duet/trio, or group acts must be in place within 1 minute. Hint: If the use of power tools are necessary on stage to set up your prop, you should probably reconsider your prop. Also be aware that shows hosted in a convention center setting will likely require you to lift your props onto a four foot high stage. Please plan accordingly.

Question: Is liquid allowed on stage?

Answer: NO. Liquid of any kind is prohibited on stage. This includes water, paint, hairspray, fog, etc. Also prohibited is the throwing of glitter or confetti.

Question: How does your entry system assign act levels?

Answer: Each dancer in an act is assigned a point value based on his or her level as follows: Novice = 1 point, Intermediate = 2 points, Competitive = 3 points. The level with the highest total points is established for that act. Any ties in the sum of points defaults to the higher level. Manual overrides to a higher level are accepted by request prior to the show entry deadline.

Question: Can I “buy” extra time for my acts?

Answer: NO. Since this is a competition, we feel it’s only fair that all acts should perform under the same rules for performance time.
